Dexter Sullivan is an unapologetic force for change. A born native of Detroit, Michigan, Dexter has measurably empowered diverse communities globally over the past two decades. Canvassing the majority of the United States and more than 20 nations abroad, his legacy continues to create equitable and sustainable solutions for marginalized populations in the urban context. With proven, award-winning success, he is best known for his impact on the leadership standards, social constructs and educational policies retained in community facing institutions. Dexter’s reputation has established him as a credible voice, making him a highly sought-after advisor for global shapers around the world.

Dexter is a proud resident of Metro Detroit, where he leads the Black Legacy Advancement Coalition as Founder, President and CEO. BLAC is a 4,200 member Detroit-based, people-centered movement. Missionally, the organization is committed to building Black power by providing education and resources that uplift our communities. Since 2020, systemic strategies have been employed that secure the future of Black America through meaningful community investment, affordable housing resources, life skill education and economic empowerment. 

BLAC annually hosts impactful, Afrocentric community experiences boasting thousands of attendees. Some of BLAC's pop up guests have included Debbie Allen, Bishop J. Drew and Dr. Karen Clark Sheard, Kierra Sheard-Kelly, Hill Harper, Detroit’s Mayor Mary Sheffield and many of Detroit's finest. Most notably, Dexter’s has served as a thought leader and community leader in the mentoring space for Black men over the past sixteen years. Through his service as the founding Director of the official men’s network of the Black Legacy Advancement Coalition, the Man to Man Project, the organization has mentored thousands of young men of color nationally. Some of these same young people have started their own mentoring groups and agencies around the country.

Additionally, Dexter leads Forerunner Consulting, a cutting-edge consulting agency providing inspiration, training, education and business services to clients across various industries. As the firm's Principal Consultant, He is responsible for  advising executives, designing and implementing strategic plans for clients as well as training leadership teams for impact. In 2020, Dexter convened the Mobility On-Ramp Collaborative for the Michigan Mobility Institute, a State funded initiative that has created long term talent solutions for the mobility industry.

Dexter is an ordained Christian minister of 20 plus years, regularly inspiring congregations globally with his message of hope, healing and restorative justice for all. His personal mission is simple. Reach, love and build communities … one life at a time!
